Eduardo Oscar Rovira was an Argentine bandoneon player, arranger, and composer, regarded as a leading exponent of modern tango alongside Astor Piazzolla and Horacio Salgán. He began his career performing with orchestras led by Francisco Alessio, Vicente Florentino, and Florindo Sassone, and in 1940 started studying harmony with Pedro Aguilar. In the early 1960s, Rovira formed Eduardo Rovira y su Agrupación de Tango Moderno. He collaborated with prominent musicians such as Osvaldo Manzi and accompanied singers including Susana Rinaldi. Rovira experimented with avant-garde elements in tango, notably introducing electric distortion to the bandoneon on his album Sónico. His LP, Que Lo Paren, was released in 1975. Rovira passed away from a heart attack on July 29, 1980, in La Plata, Argentina.
