Edgar Seipenbusch, born on August 18, 1936, in Velbert, Germany, was a German-Austrian composer, conductor, and music director. He started his musical education at age seven, studying violin and piano, and gave his first concerts at twelve. He studied violin, piano, composition, and chamber music at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln under Frank Martin. His career began as concertmaster of the Rheinisches Kammerorchester in Cologne. In 1962, he completed conducting studies at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien with Hans Swarowsky. He held positions at the Stadttheater St. Pölten and the Grazer Oper before leading the Tiroler Landeskonservatorium and the Tiroler Symphonieorchester in Innsbruck until 1992. He also became conductor of the Wiener Kammeroper in 1995. He received the Ehrenzeichen für Kunst und Kultur der Stadt Innsbruck in 1976, the Verdienstkreuz der Stadt Innsbruck in 1993, and the Verdienstkreuz des Landes Tirol. He passed away on April 11, 2011.
