Biography

Rebecca Ari, known as Ecca Vandal, was born in Louis Trichardt, Limpopo, South Africa, and raised in Melbourne after her parents emigrated with her and her sisters. She studied jazz at the Victorian College of the Arts and began her career with the 2014 single "White Flag" and the 2016 EP End of Time. Her self‑titled debut album Ecca Vandal was released in 2017, earning a 4‑out‑of‑5 NME review, and she toured the UK supporting Frank Carter & the Rattlesnakes. In 2019 she appeared on Hilltop Hoods’ The Great Expanse, where "Exit Sign" reached number 44 on the ARIA Singles Chart. In 2026 she released the single "Bleach" and the album Looking for People to Unfollow, continuing her mix of rock, punk, hip-hop and electronic styles.
