Biography

Dueto América was a Mexican musical duo formed in the late 1940s in Aguascalientes. The ensemble consisted of siblings Carolina and David González. The duo performed contemporary songs and traditional folk music, specifically corridos and rancheros. Its repertoire featured compositions by Fernando Z. Maldonado and Felipe Valdés Leal. The group's string accompaniment included the harp, played by Jacinto Gatica. Dueto América recorded various albums for Columbia Records and Harmony Records, with its discography flourishing during the 1960s. The duo released the songs “Ojitos soñadores”, “El venadito”, “Tres suspiros”, and “Un día con otro”. In the 1960s, Carolina González joined her sister Elvira in the duo Las Palomas. Compilations of the group's recordings were released later, including La gran colección del 60 aniversario CBS (2008) and Corridos of the Mexican Revolution (2011).
