Druckluft was founded in 2009 at the Kardinal-Frings-Gymnasium in Bonn as a school band by Erhard Rau and developed into a brass band with the genres carnival and brass pop. The band has its origins in instrumental cover medleys and has been performing regularly at the Cologne Carnival and at festivals in North Rhine-Westphalia since 2014. The group currently consists of Florian Hertel (trombone, vocals), Louis Steffens (trumpet), Timm Adams (trumpet), Sebastian "Bülle" Büchel (trumpet), Jonas Frevel (trumpet), Eva Bernartz (mellophone), Lisa Koch (tenor saxophone), Sebastian "Basti" Smolka (electric guitar), Peter Jüssen (electric bass) and Philipp Monschau (drums). Former members are Gregor Weiss (percussion) and Christina Becher (alto saxophone). Initially purely instrumental, Druckluft expanded its concept during the coronavirus pandemic and added vocals to its own songs from 2023. The discography includes several singles, including 2019's "Bella ciao", 2021's "Moment" and "Alaaf", 2023's "Um die Welt", "laut:bunt" and "Disko-Akrobat", 2024's "Immer Widder" and 2025's "Karnevalsmaus", which reached number 13 in the German charts. Jury awards include the Närrische Oscar in silver (2019), first place in Loss mer singe (2021) and again first place in Loss mer singe (2026).
