Doris Allen, an American soul singer born in the United States of America, began her career in music with a partnership that started on independent label Jade Records. In 1957, Doris Allen and Genie Pace were signed to the label founded by former Bethlehem Records executive Jim Bright. Allen went on to gain recognition as a soul singer during the 1960s, collaborating with Big John Hamilton. Her notable songs include "A Shell of a Woman," "Kiss Yourself for Me," and "Night Time Is the Right Time." Allen also recorded on Emerald Coast Records, run by Finley Duncan, out of Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
