Biography

Azra Kolaković, known professionally as Donna Ares, was a Bosnian singer-songwriter and musician She began her musical journey at local music schools, excelling as a pianist and winning competitions across the former Yugoslavia. In 1997, she launched her solo singing career under the stage name Donna Ares and competed in Croatia’s Dora competition for the Eurovision Song Contest. Throughout her career, Kolaković released albums such as Ti Me Više Ne Voliš (1998), Čuvaj Se, Dušo / Ja Sam Tatin Sin (2002), Jackpot (2004), Nemam Razloga Za Strah (2006), Fantastična (2009), and Povratka Nema (2011), alongside numerous live, remix, and compilation releases. She was also known for directing her music videos, designing album artwork, and managing her online presence. In 2015, she published the book Soba za Nikoga, detailing her battle with cervical cancer. After a three-year struggle with the disease, she passed away on October 2, 2017, at the age of 40.
