Biography
French rapper Doc Gynéco, who got his start with the groups Secteur à and Ministère A.M.E.R., is best known for his solo career, in which he has developed a nonchalant style of pop and variété. Born in Clichy-sous-Bois on May 10, 1974, to a family originally from Guadeloupe, Bruno Beausir grew up in Paris, where he earned the nickname Doc Gynéco in his teens, due to his seductive skills with women. With his friends Passi and Stomy Bugsy, he joined the hardcore rap collective Ministère A.M.E.R. and later Secteur Ã. However, his softer side led him to forge his own style and go solo. Signed by the Virgin label, he produced in Los Angeles what was to become one of the most popular albums in French rap, Première Consultation (1996), which reached No. 2 in the charts and went on to become a platinum disc, following the cascading success of "Viens voir le docteur", "Nirvana", "Vanessa", "Né ici" and "Passement de jambes". On the strength of this success, in which his tender rapper persona is caricatured through humorous sketches, Doc Gynéco returned in 1998 with the album Liaisons Dangereuses, featuring artists as varied as Renaud, Catherine Ringer, Pit Baccardi, MC Jean Gab'1 and members of the group Ãrsenik, as well as businessman Bernard Tapie in the duet "C'est beau la vie" (no. 11). With his next album, Quality Street (2001), recorded in London, the artist shifted from rap to zouk, reggae and variety, as on Solitaire (2002), featuring Matthieu Chedid, Lord Kossity, Daz Dillinger and Stomy Bugsy. After two nominations, he finally won the Best Album trophy at the Victoires de la Musique awards in 2003, when the Best Of menu was released. The rapper went on to star in Gomez et Tavarès, compose the soundtrack for the film Taxi 3 and write three books, including Un homme nature : ma vie, ma philosophie, published simultaneously with the two albums Un Homme Nature and Doc Gynéco Enregistre au Quartier (2006). In 2008, the album Peace Maker, featuring a duet with Johnny Hallyday, was produced by DJ Mosey alias Pierre Sarkozy, son of the French President, of whom the artist is an open supporter. He then made his theatrical debut and returned to the stage before releasing the album 1000 % in 2018, followed by the tracks "En couleurs" (2019), "Prince charmant" (2023) and "Ãa colle aux doigts" (2024).
