Biography

De Spelbrekers, a Dutch vocal duo consisting of Theo Rekkers and Huug Kok, formed in 1945 at the end of World War II. Their early career began with the release of their first single "Rood wit blauw / C'est magnifique" in 1950. The duo gained significant popularity in the Netherlands with hits such as "Oh wat ben je mooi!", which reached number 5 on the Dutch charts in June and July 1956. De Spelbrekers represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1962 with "Katinka". Throughout their career, they released several albums, including Feest met de Spelbrekers (1965) and compilations like De grootste successen van De Spelbrekers (1972). The duo disbanded in 1975 after three decades of activity.
