Biography

Nadia Sirota (born in New York City) is an American classical and contemporary violist and broadcaster. Sirota earned her undergraduate and master's degrees from the Juilliard School and joined the faculty of the Manhattan School of Music in 2007. She launched her solo recording career with First Things First (2009), which The New York Times cited as a record of the year. Her discography featured the albums Baroque (2013) and Tessellatum (2017). Sirota collaborated with composers Nico Muhly and Missy Mazzoli, and performed on recordings for Arcade Fire, Grizzly Bear, and David Bowie. She performed as a member of the ensembles yMusic, ACME, and Alarm Will Sound. In broadcasting, Sirota hosted the radio stream Q2 Music and won the ASCAP Deems Taylor Award (2010) and a Peabody Award (2015) for the podcast Meet the Composer. In 2018, she became a creative partner for the New York Philharmonic.
