Biography

Dana Fuchs is an American singer and actress born on January 10, 1976, in New Jersey. She grew up in Florida and joined the First Baptist Gospel Choir at age 12. At 16, she performed in a local band and moved to New York at 19 to perform in blues clubs. Fuchs formed the Dana Fuchs Band with guitarist Jon Diamond. She performed the role of Janis Joplin in the stage production Love, Janis. Her debut studio recording, Lonely for a Lifetime, appeared in 2003. Fuchs performed the role of Sadie in the 2007 film Across the Universe, singing the tracks “Helter Skelter”, “Oh! Darling”, and “Why Don't We Do It in the Road?”. Her discography included the live recording Live in NYC (2008) and the studio albums Love to Beg (2011) and Bliss Avenue (2013).
