DamDamGuGu, born Jeong Jaewoong in 1994, is a South Korean independent singer-songwriter who debuted on February 3, 2020, with his first single "Common Cold". His stage name is inspired by the cartoon Chiquita Gugu. Between 2021 and 2023, he released the single albums "Slow dance", and "Rape flower", gaining notable recognition from overseas listeners before domestic audiences. He earned the Encouragement Award at the 32nd Yoo Jae-ha Music Contest, cementing his presence in the indie scene. In 2024, he released his first full-length album Nun.Nun, in which he explored themes of depression with a more introspective, EMO lyrical style. Known for his whispering vocals and soundscapes influenced by modern rock, slowcore, ambient pop, shoegaze, and noise pop, DamDamGuGu is praised for evoking deep nostalgia and longing, reminiscent of long-ago memories or scenes from animated stories. He oversees all aspects of his music production, including lyric writing, composition, and arrangement, establishing himself as a fully self-produced artist in the Korean indie scene. On December 5, 2025, DamDamGuGu released a new single "pool vol. 6 - All I Wanna Do Is Play With You".
