Biography

Brazilian singer Cristiano Araújo was brought up in Goiás, an area in the centre of Brazil, part of a musical family who had been performers for four generations. With his twin sister Ana, Araújo built up a career as a singer and although the duo enjoyed regional success they failed to make an impression outside their local area. In 2010 Araújo went solo and embarked on a major tour of the country performing 117 live shows in 2011. His efforts paid off and he began to appear on TV and at music festivals and performed a series of collaborations with other up-and-coming Brazilian artists such as Bruno & Marrone, Fernando & Sorocaba and Israel & Rodolffo. In common with many other Brazilian artists his debut album 'Efeitos' was a live set released in 2011. It wasn't until his third album that he ventured into the studio and recorded 'Continua' which was released in 2013. Whilst on the cusp of becoming an established national star he was a passenger in a car being driven back from a live performance when it left the road and Araújo was badly hurt eventually succumbing to his injuries later in hospital.
