Biography

Core of Soul, formed in Osaka, Japan, comprised vocalist Fukiko Nakamura, guitarist and bassist Rui Song, and programmer Keisuke Iizuka; the group debuted with the single "Photosynthesis" on 16 May 2001, followed by "Full Moon Prayer" later that year, establishing a blend of folk, rap, and rock influences. Their first album, Natural Beauty, released 27 February 2002, reached Number 35 on the national charts, while the 19 February 2003 release Over the Time "Time Is Over" climbed to Number 49 and the October 22 2003 album Rainbow peaked at Number 99; the 24 March 2004 album 3 entered the charts at Number 134, and the 25 January 2006 album One Love, One Day, One Life also reached Number 134, reflecting a steady presence in the Japanese market. Subsequent singles—including "Make Me A Woman" (3 September 2003, Number 85), "Purple Sky" (28 January 2004, Number 91), "Ageha" (26 January 2005, Number 90), and "Yumenori Riders" (3 August 2005, Number 146)—demonstrated the group’s consistent output. Core of Soul completed an Asian tour in Osaka before disbanding on 24 March 2006. Their final compilation, The Best, released 15 March 2006, served as a post-split tribute to their career.
