Biography

South Korean boy group CODE-V made its debut with “First Story” in 2007 under the name BLESS with members Sangwoo, Naro, Sol, Jaewon and Taemin, before rebranding as CODE-V in June 2010 with the single "Poisoning." Rui replaced Taemin soon after, and the group contributed to OSTs for dramas GIANT and Baker King Kim Tak Goo, releasing their first full album Honesty in May 2011. Expanding their activities to Japan in 2011, CODE-V unveiled their pre-debut Japanese single "Addiction ~ Kimi Nashi ni wa, Ikirarenai" in December, followed by "Kimi ga Kureta Mono" in May 2012, and "Sekaijuu ga Teki ni Nattemo Kitto Kimi wo Mamori Nuku Kara" in October, which charted at number 18 and 8 respectively. In 2013, they released "Nando Sayonara wo Kurikaeshitara Bokura wa Tsuyoku Nareru no?" in February which went to number 6, followed by their first Japanese album Shoshin in March. However, the group’s line-up underwent further changes starting with Jaewon’s departure followed by Sangwoo, Naro, and Rui’s military enlistment, and the group released "Ima, Tsutaetai Koto" which climbed to number 5, prior to their one-man live show at Nippon Budokan, followed by second Japanese album Yoyogi in December. New members Woosik and Taehoon joined in January 2014, leading to the release of top 10 singles "Never Say Never" (2014) and "Never Ending Story," (2014) prior to fourth album STARLIGHT in 2015. Upon Naro and Sangwoo’s return, CODE-V released the cover album Love & Harmony in March, followed by CODE-V Best ~Rokutousei~ the following year and standalone single "Winter Love" in October. With several members embarking on solo careers, Sangwoo, Rui and Sol formed sub-unit Niiisan, and CODE-V released their final two albums - Michi in February, and -ing in December. The group disbanded with a farewell performance at Tokyo Dome City Hall on December 23.
