Biography
Coco Mupala, real name Colette, was born in Paris into a family of artists from the Congo (DRC). Lulled by gospel music, she began singing as a child. At the age of 11, she won a local singing competition, revealing her talent. In 2015, a surprise entry in the Luton Mela Show competition in London propelled her to the final. Spotted by BBC Three and TRACE TV, she recorded her first tracks, including"Masquerade" with beatmaker Toney. Graduating with a master's degree in management, she chose music and multiplied her experiences abroad. In 2017, she joined the BACKUP Music label, with whom she launched an EP in 2019. She develops an Afro pop fusion of French, Lingala and modern sounds. In 2020, she collaborates with Dany Synthé on her debut album. Committed, she hopes to donate her future fees to the Congo to support orphans and women victims of violence.
