Biography

Amsterdam-born Cimo Fränkel grew up under the influence of 1980s music and his funk musician father. By the age of 15, Fränkel was already showing an interest in music production and its techniques; he also started writing songs for other people. This included writing the opening theme to the 14th anniversary of the founding of the Johan Cruyff Foundation in 2011. Two years later he signed his first major recording contract with the Dutch Talpa Music company - later a subsidiary of the BMG organisation. This strong foundation enabled Fränkel to expand his horizons and move from behind the scenes, for example as the vocalist on the single, 'Strong Ones' that he also co-wrote with Armin van Buuren in 2015. Relocating to Los Angeles in 2016, Fränkel collaborated with Cheat Codes and Dutch DJ trio Kris Kross Amsterdam to release the hugely successful single 'Sex'. Since then, Fränkel and his main collaborator Rik Annema have moved between LA, Amsterdam, London and Stockholm, continuing to write, record and release new music, with the single 'Stay the Night' releasing in early 2019.
