Biography

Chicago Poodle, a Japanese three‑piece piano band formed in April 2000 at Doshisha University in Kyoto, launched its career with a victory at the Kyoto Festin student music contest in October 2003 before debuting on the indie label Tent House with the White mini‑album in July 2004. The group gained a wider audience after winning the grand prix and securing a major debut with Giza Studio on March 8 2009 through the single "Odyssey". Their first studio album, Boku Tabi, appeared on November 11 2009, followed by GTBT on October 6 2010. Throughout the 2010s, the band released singles such as "Sakurairo" (March 9 2011), "Takaramono / Kimi No Egao Ga Naniyorimo Sukidatta" (August 28 2013), and "Made in Smile" (October 14 2015). In 2011 they held their first solo concert, Inu (one) Fes 2011, and in 2013 provided the theme song for the anime Detective Conan. Vocalist Kouta Hanazawa pursued a jazz solo project, Ssllee, in 2012. The band continued to perform regularly, hosting the FM Tokushima radio program Chicago Poodle no Radio Kaze since 2008. In 2023 they announced a departure from Giza Studio and transitioned to freelance activity, launching a new official website.
