Chae Yeon, known as Cheuni, born on August 25, 1964, in Seoul, South Korea, is a singer known for her success in both Korea and Japan. Her real name and Korean stage name is Jeong Jae-eun. She is the daughter of Lee Mi-ja, a legendary Korean singer. She debuted in Korea at the young age of eight and later graduated from the Seoul Institute of the Arts. In the late 1970s, she released the album Tsubaki Musume in Japan under Mercury Records. Throughout the early 1980s, she gained popularity in Korea with hits like âMinato", "Renrakusen", and "Doushitemo icchatta hito". In 1998, she moved to Japan and made her debut with "Tokyo Twilight", which earned her the New Artist Award at the 42nd Japan Record Awards. Her first three singles, all themed around Tokyo, became known as the "Tokyo Trilogy." Her success extended back to Korea, where she received the Overseas Popular Star Award alongside TVXQ and BoA at the 14th Korea Arts Awards in 2007. One of her notable songs is "Ame no Yasokyoku"(2013).
