Biography

Klee, a German pop rock band from Cologne, was formed in 2002 by Suzie Kerstgens on vocals, Sten Servaes and Tom Deininger on instruments. The trio had previously been members of the band Ralley during the 1990s but took a break following a serious traffic accident involving Deininger and Servaes. Klee's debut single "Erinner dich" from their first album Unverwundbar was released in 2002, marking their entry into the music scene. The band gained significant attention with their second album Jelängerjelieber, which included the singles "2 Fragen" and "Gold". The latter song represented Saarland at the Bundesvision Song Contest 2005, where it finished in 10th place. In 2006, Klee released Zwischen Himmel und Erde, their first top 20 album in Germany, peaking at Number 17. Their fourth album Berge versetzen (2008) reached Number 15 on the German albums chart and included the top 30 single "Zwei Herzen". Following Deininger's departure in 2010, Kerstgens and Servaes released Aus lauter Liebe, which peaked at Number 6 in Germany. The band continued to evolve their sound with Hello Again (2015), featuring bossa nova-influenced cover versions of schlager songs. Klee frequently performed live, giving up to 150 concerts annually and opening for established bands such as The Wedding Present and Nena.
