Biography

Hilde Ludo Frieda Rens, known professionally as Yasmine, was born on March 3, 1972, in Belgium. She was a singer, presenter, and television personality who began her career as a singer during the late 1980s and early 1990s. At age 17, she made her television debut in 1989, performing "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" on a Flemish talent show. In 1991, Yasmine released her first album Mooi Zo, following the release of her debut single "Wie Denk Jij Wel Dat Je Bent". She continued to release albums, including Als Jij Dat Wil (1993), Portfolio (1995), and Prêt-a-Porter (1997). In 2004, she released a critically acclaimed album of Leonard Cohen songs translated into Dutch titled Vandaag, Het Morgen Van Gisteren. Her final album, Licht Ontvlambaar, was released in 2006. On June 25, 2009, Yasmine was found deceased near her sister's home in Kontich.
