Carlos Alberto Nieto, known professionally as Chango Nieto, was born on April 8, 1943, in Campamento Vespucio, Salta Province, Argentina. He began his career as a singer-songwriter and bombisto, initially studying veterinary medicine at La Plata University. In the mid-1960s, he gained recognition after meeting Hernán Figueroa Reyes, who encouraged him to record his first album. Nieto's breakthrough came in 1965 when he was named Revelación del Festival Mayor del Folklore de CosquÃn. He released numerous albums, including Bagualero soy (1966), and collaborated with artists such as Daniel Toro on albums like Amistad (1980). Nieto also performed internationally, visiting countries across America and Europe. He received multiple awards, including the Premio Revelación in 1965 at the Festival de CosquÃn and a Diploma al mérito from Fundación Konex in 1985 and 1995. Nieto passed away on January 31, 2008, following a battle with illness.
