Biography

Catrin Finch, born 24 April 1980 in Llannon, Wales, began harp at six and passed a Grade VIII exam by nine. She joined the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain at ten, becoming its youngest Proms performer. Her breakthrough came in 1999 when she won the Lily Laskine International Harp Competition, followed by the 2000 Young Concert Artists International Auditions and a residency at Wigmore Hall. She served as Official Harpist to the Prince of Wales from 2000 to 2004. Her discography includes Harp Recital (1999), Carnaval de Venise (2001), Bach: Goldberg Variations (2009), Annwn (2011) and Tides (2015). Collaborations feature Seckou Keita on Clychau Dibon (2013), Soar (2018) and Echo (2022), and Aoife Ní Bhriain on Double You (2023). She toured Patagonia with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales in 2015 and performed on Karl Jenkins’ Cantata Memoria in 2016. In 2018 she was diagnosed with grade 3 breast cancer, underwent treatment, yet completed a 17‑date tour with Seckou Keita. In 2026, she released the album Notes to Self, her first solo recording in eleven years.
