Biography

Catherine Lara was born into a family where music was second nature. A distinguished violinist, she has won numerous awards. Petulant and non-conformist, she felt cramped by the conventions surrounding classical music. Attracted by rock-tinged variety, she makes her violin roar like a guitar. In the mid-80s, she scored a string of successes with La Rockeuse de Diamants (1983), Nuit Magique (1986) and Sand et les Romantiques (1992). Voluntarily grandiloquent, she then turned to more instrumental works, such as Graal in 2005. In 2012, the singer of all experiences put her repertoire at the service of the klezmer ensemble Sirba Octet for the album Au Coeur de L'Âme Yiddish.
