Biography

Born in Brussels, Belgium on January 28, 1988, Casimir Liberski is a keyboardist and composer. As a child, he was enchanted by the soundtracks to Tex Avery cartoons as well as soul, blues, and jazz. By the age of 13, he was already the leader of his own trio, earning acclaim for his unique and exhilarating performances. He earned many awards during his career and began composing music for films and TV, most notably for his score to Tokyo Fiancée, which earned him a Best Screen Composer nomination at the Film Fest Gent in 2005. He was honored with the exclusive Presidential Scholarship at the Berklee College of Music in 2006. There, he studied under Brad Mehldau, Jason Moran, Vijay Iyer, Craig Taborn, and many others. More significantly, for a decade, he was mentored by jazz legend Ornette Coleman. In 2008, he released the album Evanescences, a collaboration with bassist Thomas Morgan and drummer Tyshawn Sorey. He followed that album with Dedications (2009) and Treasures (2010). Just prior to his graduation, Casimer Liberski relocated to New York City in 2010. He began to collaborate with a series of musicians including Stanley Jordan, Rodney Holmes, Matthew Shipp, Tony Moreno, Greg Osby, and many others. His next two albums – The Caveless Wolf and Atomic Rabbit (both released in 2012) – embraced progressive jazz rock. Further albums include Middle of Somewhere (2017) and Cosmic Liberty (2019) plus collaborations with Louis de Mieulle, Kaoru Tanaka, and JF Foliez.
