Biography

Carlos Argentino, born Israel Vitensztein Vurm on June 23, 1929, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, was a singer of pachanga, cha-cha-cha, and bolero. He began his career under the pseudonym Carlos Torres and later adopted the name Carlos Argentino. In 1955, he joined the Sonora Matancera, with whom he recorded his first single "Una canciÃ³n". With the Sonora Matancera, he released notable songs such as "Las muchachas caraqueÃ±as", and "La mamÃ¡ y la hija". He remained with the group until November 1959, after which he pursued a solo career. His albums include Sings (1957), Yo Canto Para Ti (I Sing For You) (1958). Carlos Argentino passed away on June 20, 1991, from a heart attack while attending a horse race in Buenos Aires.
