Carlo Sabajno, born in Rosasco, Italy in 1874, was an Italian conductor. From 1904 to 1932, he served as the chief conductor and artistic director for The Gramophone Company in Italy. During this tenure, Sabajno conducted some of the earliest full-length opera recordings, often collaborating with the orchestra of La Scala, Milan, and prominent singers such as Tito Schipa and Alessandro Ziliani. Notable recordings include Don Pasquale, La traviata, Aida, Otello, and La bohème. His work spanned various operas by composers like Verdi, Puccini, and Leoncavallo, with significant releases including Pagliacci (1907), Cavalleria rusticana (1915), and Madama Butterfly (1921). Sabajno's contributions to opera recordings are recognized for their stately and authoritative interpretations. He passed away in Milan in 1938.
