Carlo Ponti Jr., also known as Carlo Ponti, born December 29, 1968, in Geneva, Switzerland, is an Italian orchestral conductor working in the United States. He began his musical training at the Conductor's Institute in Connecticut under Harold Farberman from 1994 to 1996 and furthered his education at the Vienna Musikhochschule in Austria from 1999 to 2001. Ponti served as associate conductor of the Russian National Orchestra from 2000 to 2018, music director and principal conductor of the San Bernardino Symphony from 2001 to 2013, and founded the Los Angeles Virtuosi Orchestra in 2013. He has released two recordings with the Russian National Orchestra on the Pentatone label, including Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade, Capriccio Espagnol, Neapolitan Song. Ponti's work has been featured on various media outlets, and he has received several awards for his contributions to music education and orchestral performance, including the Premio Galileo Award in 2006.
