Biography

Carl Broemel, born January 30, 1974 in Indianapolis, Indiana, is an American folk‑genre guitarist, saxophonist, pedal steel guitarist, and vocalist. After graduating from Pike High School, he joined the pop/rock group Old Pike and later the alternative pop/rock band Silvercrush, gaining early exposure to studio work and touring. In 2004 he released his debut solo album Lose What’s Left, followed by All Birds Say in 2010, which showcased his Nashville‑influenced sound. Carl Broemel’s subsequent releases-4th of July (2016), Wished Out (2018), and the EP Brokenhearted Jubilee (2019)-expanded his repertoire across folk, pop, rock and country styles. He has collaborated with My Morning Jacket, performing guitar, pedal steel, and backup vocals, and toured with Ray LaMontagne in 2019. His work has been recognized by Rolling Stone’s 2007 “20 New Guitar Gods” list and continues to influence contemporary American folk and rock music. In 2026, he released Celestun, a joint album with Tyler Ramsey.
