Biography

The Irish all-girl teen pop band B*Witched was formed in Dublin in 1997. Led by twin sisters Edele and Keavy Lynch, Lindsay Armaou, and Sinéad O'Carroll, the group landed a record deal with Epic Records subsidiary Glowworm in 1997 and made their official debut with the 1998 single "C'est la Vie." Upon its release, the track climbed to the top of the UK charts, turning B*Witched into the youngest girl group to have a Number 1 in the United Kingdom. Follow-up singles "Rollercoaster," "To You I Belong," and "Blame It on the Weatherman" also went straight to Number 1 in the UK and appeared in their 1998 eponymous studio debut. The album reached Number 3 on the British charts and was followed by a second full-length titled Awake and Breathe in 1999. Though not as successful as its predecessor, their sophomore effort still managed to get into the UK Top 5 and received platinum certification. Despite their increasing popularity, the group was dropped by Sony in 2001 and finally dissolved in 2002 after Sinéad O'Carroll's departure. A decade later, the Lynch sisters and the rest of B*Witched buried the hatchet and reconvened to perform at ITV2's The Big Reunion. Due to the program's success, B*Witched and the rest of the bands involved in the project embarked on a tour around the UK and Ireland the following year. Preceded by the single "Love and Money," the EP Champagne or Guinness appeared in 2014
