Biography
Bulgarka Junior Quartet, a Bulgarian vocal folklore ensemble, was formed in 1989 in Plovdiv. The group included singers Christina Anastasova, Fanka Koynarova, Vichka Nikolova, and Tonka Koleva. Their debut album, Bulgarian Folklore, was released in 1989 by Mega Music Label and promoted at the MIDEM Festival in Cannes. Between 1989 and 1993, Bulgarka Junior Quartet toured extensively across Europe. In 1994, Nikolova left the ensemble to pursue a solo career. The quartet continued with Anastasova, Koynarova, Elena Bedeleva, and Koleva, releasing albums such as PALESTRINA missa primi toni (1994) and Legend of Bulgarian Voices (1995). They collaborated with various artists, including Kepa Junkera and Juan Peña Fernández El Lebrijano. They can be heard on the soundtrack to Inside Story 2 (2010).
