The American indie rock duo Brick + Mortar formed in Toms River, New Jersey, in March 2008. Frontman Brandon Asraf and John Tacon began playing music together in middle school. In 2010, they released their first studio LP, 7 Years in the Mystic Room, which received positive feedback. The duo's performances gained them a strong following in the Asbury Park music scene, leading to opening spots for acts like River City Extension and Jimmy Eat World. In 2013, they signed with Photo Finish Records and released their EP Bangs. Despite being dropped by their label in 2014, Brick + Mortar produced music such as the single "Hollow Tune", the charting single "Locked in a Cage", and a cover of Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Child". In 2015, they released Dropped EP and went on tour, followed by the Dropped Again EP (2017). Their debut full-length album, Meta Meta Etc. (2018), was followed by the EP Melting Up (2022).
