Biography

Better known as one half of the country music duo Florida Georgia Line, American singer-songwriter Brian Kelley was born on August 26, 1985, in Ormond Beach, Florida. Inspired by the country artists his sister would play for him on their commute to the beach, he picked up the guitar and wrote his first couple of songs during his teenage years. After his professional baseball career failed to take off, Brian Kelley fully devoted himself to songwriting and transferred to Belmont University, where he met future bandmate Tyler Hubbard in 2008. The pair began touring the American South under the name Florida Georgia Line and made a splash in the country music scene with releases like Here’s to the Good Times (2012), Anything Goes (2014), Dig Your Roots (2016), and Can’t Say I Ain’t Country (2019), all of which shot straight to the top of the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. In 2021, Brian Kelley launched his solo career with the EP BK’s Wave Pack, released via his own Nashville South Records imprint. Sunshine State of Mind, his debut full-length, appeared later that year and was followed by the patriotic single “American Spirit,” which climbed to Number 49 on the iTunes chart in the United States in 2022.
