Brendan James Ernst, born July 17, 1979 in Nashua, New Hampshire, is an American singer-songwriter. He began his musical journey by performing in school plays and musicals during his youth. After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Brendan moved to Los Angeles where he started playing piano and writing songs. His breakthrough came when he was signed to Capitol Records in 2005. However, due to a merger with Virgin Records, he was dropped before his debut album could be released. In response, James self-produced the EP The Ballroom Break-In (2007) and later signed with Decca Records. His first full-length album, The Day is Brave, was released in 2008, followed by Hope in Transition in 2012. Brendan has toured extensively, supporting artists such as Jason Reeves and John Mayer.
