Biography

In the early 2000s, brothers Adlane and Badr Defouad formed their duo Binobin. The group released their first album, Binobin, in 2006, featuring Ray Lema, Étienne Mbappé, Claude Salmiéri and Nasredine Dalil. On this album, they develop their multi-influenced style, combining jazz, pop and Arab music influences such as chaabi and raï. Oscillating between Agadir, their native Morocco, and Paris, where the two brothers have made their home, Binobin has succeeded in developing an audience in several countries, and has brought the rhythms of their childhood to France. After presenting their first productions on stage, notably in France, Germany, Morocco and Tunisia, the duo returned with a second album in 2010, Mektoub, featuring the major figure of Manu Dibango. The band, whose name means "in-between" in Arabic, symbolizes their desire to bring together Arab and European cultures. Their third album, with the evocative title Cosmopolitan, includes collaborations with Mathieu Boogaerts and Jean-Philippe Rykiel. The duo are also publicly committed, taking part in the song "Plus Jamais Ebola" in 2015, and performing in institutional venues such as the Hôtel de Ville in Paris. In the desire to make demands and take part in more collaborative projects, two other proposals were then born: Au Tour Des Femmes in 2018 and Cap Musique in 2021.
