Berislav KlobuÄar, born on August 28, 1924, in Zagreb, Croatia, was a conductor. He studied under Clemens Krauss and Lovro von MataÄiÄ at the Mozarteum University of Salzburg. His professional journey began as a conductor at the Théâtre national croate in Zagreb from 1943 to 1951. KlobuÄar later joined the Wiener Staatsoper in Vienna, where he served from 1953 to 1967. He also held positions at the Grazer Oper in Graz (1960â1971), Metropolitan Opera in New York (1968), and Kungliga Operan in Stockholm (1972â1981). KlobuÄar was a frequent guest conductor at the Festival de Bayreuth, directing works such as "Das Rheingold" and "Die Walküre". He collaborated with notable artists, including Mady Mesplé and Sena Jurinac. KlobuÄar passed away on June 13, 2014, in Vienna, Austria.
