Following in the footsteps of Sweden's great pop exports, Benjamin Ingrosso's soulful, up-tempo ballads earned comparisons to Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars, setting him up as a pop crooner and all-round entertainer. Born in Danderyd in Stockholm County, Benjamin Daniele Wahlgren Ingrosso (September 14, 1997) is the son of musical actress Pernilla Wahlgren and dancer/composer Emilio Ingrosso, and at just nine years old he reached Number 2 in the Swedish charts in 2007 with the novelty record "Jag Ar En Astronaut" (a song that was originally made in 1985 by his uncle Linus Wahlgren). His showbiz family ties also include his cousin Sebastian Ingrosso of Swedish House Mafia and his grandmother, who was a well-known actress, but Ingrosso hid away from the spotlight in his teens and concentrated on songwriting until he entered and won the TV talent show Let's Dance in 2014. It led to him signing a recording contract with TEN Music Group and he re-launched himself at Sweden's Melodifestivalen competition in 2017 with âGood Lovin,â his first Top 10 single. He came to wider attention when he represented Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2018 with his funky dance-pop, disco strut âDance You Off,â finishing seventh in the final of the show and scored a hit in France and Sweden with the song. He later duetted with Felix Sandman from boyband FO&O on the single âTror Du Att Han Bryr Sigâ and worked with a stellar crop of Los Angeles songwriters including Gladius, Fernando Garibay and OMEGA on his debut album Identification in 2018. His R&B heartbreaker âBehaveâ brought him another Top 10 hit in Sweden and he returned in 2019 with his cover of Lionel Richie's âAll Night Longâ and performed at the opening of that year's Melodifestivalen. After the release of the standalone singles âCosta Rica,â âThe Dirt,â and âShampooâ in 2020, Ingrosso dropped his highly-anticipated sophomore effort En gÃ¥ng i tiden (2021), which shot straight to the top of the Swedish charts, largely thanks to the success of the Top 10 single âFlickan pÃ¥ min gata.â
