Biography
Benediction is a British death metal band formed in Birmingham in 1989. The founding members are Peter Rewinsky (lead guitar), Darren Brookes (rhythm guitar), Mark "Barney" Greenway (vocals), Paul Adams (bass) and Ian Treacy (drums). Currently the band consists of Dave Ingram (vocals), Peter Rewinsky (lead guitar), Darren Brookes (rhythm guitar), Nik Sampson (bass) and Giovanni Durst (drums). Benediction plays classic death metal with influences from thrash and grindcore. The debut album Subconscious Terror was released in 1990 and was followed by The Grand Leveller (1991). Transcend the Rubicon (1993) is considered one of the band's most successful albums. This was followed by The Dreams You Dread (1995), Grind Bastard (1998), Organized Chaos (2001) and Killing Music (2008). After a longer break, the band returned in 2020 with Scriptures, which reached number 11 in the album charts in Germany, number 34 in Austria and number 35 in Switzerland. In April 2025, Benediction released the album Ravage of Empires, which entered the charts at number 7 in Germany.
