Biography

Elizabeth Bessem Ayamo Manga, known as BÃ©bÃ© Manga, was born on November 27, 1948, in Mamfe, Cameroon. She started her music career in 1975 at "Son de Guitare" nightclub in Abidjan, CÃ´te d'Ivoire. Her breakthrough came in 1980 with "Amio", a cover of Ebanda Manfredâs "Amie" which earned her the prestigious "Maracas D'or" award from SACEM. Throughout her career, Manga performed extensively across Africa and released several albums including Ami - Oyomiya (1982) and Temps Futur (2000). She collaborated with notable artists such as Manu Dibango. BÃ©bÃ© Manga passed away on July 1, 2011, following a heart attack at her home in Douala.
