Born on June 17, 1943, Barry Alan Pincus, also known as Barry Manilow, is a composer, songwriter and singer of international variety and American pop of the 1970s. Among the many hits in his repertoire are "Mandy", "I Write the Songs", "Could It Be Magic" (covered by Donna Summer in disco style and Alain Chamfort under theFrench title"Le temps qui court"), " Looks Like We Made It" and many others. The man who sold almost three hundred million albums also saw five of them chart simultaneously on Billboard in 1978. His albumsBarry Manilow II (1974), Tryin' to Get the Feeling (1975), This One's for You (1976), Barry Manilow (1989), Thumbelina (1994), Here at the Mayflower (2001) and 15 Minutes (2011) testify to his continued presence at the highest level. Inspired by great crooners such as Frank Sinatra and Mel Tormé, Barry Manilow's discography includes a multitude of compilations, including the disco hit "Copacabana " (1978). The singer, who came out of the closet in 2017, released the album This Is My Town: Songs of New York the same year.
