Biography

Baby Charles is a British vintage funk and soul band formed in Brighton in the early 2000s. Driven by the powerful voice of singer Dionne Charles, the collective helped revive the genre in Europe with their flagship track, "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor", and their only album, Baby Charles, released in March 2008. The eight-piece band covered the Arctic Monkeys track in their own way on a single released on the Record Kicks label, appearing alongside original compositions on the album. The album was reissued in a 15th anniversary version in 2023. The 2026 reissue of "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor" reached number 10 in the UK singles charts.
