Biography
Audius Tonderai Mtawarira, born in 1977 in Chimbumu, Guruve District, Zimbabwe, is a singer-songwriter and record producer known mononymously as Audius. He moved to Australia in 1996 to study at Edith Cowan University and later Curtin University. Mtawarira began his music career in 2002, producing Selwyn's album Meant to Be, which peaked at number 9 on the ARIA Album charts and was certified Gold. He gained significant recognition for co-writing and producing Delta Goodrem's "Born to Try", which reached Number 1 on the Australian Singles chart in 2003. Mtawarira has also collaborated with notable artists such as Jessica Mauboy and Sean Ray Mullins. His work has been recognized with awards such as the ARIA Music Awards' Single of the Year in 2003 for "Born to Try" and APRA Music Awards' Urban Work of the Year in 2009 for "Running Back".
