Astrud was a Spanish pop group from Barcelona, formed in 1995 by Manolo MartÃnez and GenÃs Segarra. The duo initially gained attention for their provocative stage presence and eclectic musical influences, which included elements of ye-ye pop, French chanson, 1980s British new wave, 1990s Brit-pop, and independent Spanish music. Their debut album Mi Fracaso Personal was released in 1999 under the label Chewaka. The group's subsequent albums, including Gran Fuerza (2001) and Performance (2004), solidified their status within the independent music scene. Notable singles such as "Esto DeberÃa De Acabarse AquÃ" and "Bailando" further showcased their unique sound. In 2007, they released their album of original material, Tú No Existes. After a hiatus, Astrud collaborated with Col.lectiu Brossa for the reimagined live performances and subsequent release Lo Nuevo in 2010. The group suspended activity in 2011 when Manolo MartÃnez moved to the United States to take up a scholarship in New York.
