Biography

As They Burn was formed in 2007 in Paris, Île‑de‑France, by five friends: Kevin Traoré, Hoby Arinosy, Fabio Meschini, Ronald Pastor, and Milton Bakech, who collectively wrote and performed the band's early material. The group first captured attention with the 2009 EP A New Area for Our Plagues, released on Ultimhate Records, which showcased a blend of deathcore and metalcore elements and set the stage for subsequent touring. In 2011, they issued the studio album Aeon's War on 20 June 2011, featuring vocal production by Junior Rodriguez and earning a place in the French metalcore circuit. In 2013, the single "Dream Collapse" preceded the album Will, Love, Life, which expanded their audience through appearances at Hellfest 2012 and Motocultor Festival 2012. After a brief disbandment announced on 5 January 2015, the band re‑emerged on 31 March 2022 with the single "Unable to Connect" and a subsequent tour beginning at the Bataclan. They released the EP Ego Death on 10 November 2022 and continued to evolve with lineup changes, most recently adding vocalist Zek Eladio in 2025. The group's discography and festival appearances have solidified its position within the French deathcore scene.
