Arlo McKinley, born Timothy Carr in Cincinnati, Ohio, is an American country musician who began singing at age 8 in his family's church choir. In 2014, he released his debut album Arlo McKinley & The Lonesome Sound. McKinley gained significant attention when he was signed to Oh Boy Records by John Prine and Jody Whelan. His second album, Die Midwestern, debuted on August 14, 2020, featuring collaborations with notable musicians such as Ken Coomer and Rick Steff. The album received critical acclaim, with Alex Robert Ross of Fader Magazine praising its raw yet balanced sound. McKinley's third album, This Mess We're In, was released on July 15, 2022, also under Oh Boy Records. This album drew inspiration from personal losses and featured production by Matt Ross-Spang.
