Area Code 615 was an American supergroup from Nashville consisting of session musicians. Formed in 1969, the group took their name from the telephone area code covering Central and Eastern Tennessee. Their debut album, Area Code 615 (1969), peaked at number 191 on the Billboard Top LPs chart. In 1970, they released the album Trip in the Country. Members of the group backed artists including Bob Dylan and appeared on the television program of Johnny Cash. Their recording "Stone Fox Chase" served as the theme for the television program The Old Grey Whistle Test. Area Code 615 disbanded in 1971. Members including Kenny Buttrey, Bobby Thompson, Weldon Myrick, and Mac Gayden passed away between 2004 and 2025.
