Apostle of Solitude, an American doom metal band from Indianapolis, Indiana, was formed in 2004. Their first release was a self-titled demo in 2005, followed by the EP Embraced by the Black in early 2007. In 2008, they released their debut album Sincerest Misery through Eyes Like Snow. This was followed by Last Sunrise, released in 2010 via Eyes Like Snow and Profound Lore Records. The band performed at notable festivals such as Templars of Doom during this period. In early 2011, the lineup changed with the addition of bassist Bob Fouts and guitarist Steve Janiak. That year also saw two split releases, one with Dawnrider and another with Rituals of the Oak and The Flight of Sleipnir. In May 2014, Apostle of Solitude recorded their album Of Woe and Wounds, which was released in October that year via Cruz del Sur Music.
