Erica Buettner, born on July 12, 1984, in Avon, Connecticut, is an American singer-songwriter. She began singing as a girl and studied a double major in English and French at the University of Connecticut, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. While studying abroad in Paris, she met producer Pierre Faa, who invited her to record in his studio, marking the start of her professional career. Her debut album, True Love and Water, was released in 2011, featuring collaborations with various Paris-based musicians. Buettner's music has been acclaimed by outlets such as La Blogothèque and Les Inrocks. After moving to Portugal in 2009 following an invitation to perform there, she continued her musical journey, releasing The Book of Waves in 2018. She has also collaborated with artists like Liam Carey and Françoiz Breut, and participated in Pierre Faa's "Kokoro Iyasu" for earthquake relief.
