Biography
Michael Perretta, known professionally as Evidence, was born on December 10, 1976, in Venice, Los Angeles. He started his artistic journey through graffiti before transitioning into music and co-founding the rap group Dilated Peoples with Rakaa Iriscience and DJ Babu in 1992. The group released several albums, including The Platform (2000) and Expansion Team (2001). Evidence's solo career began with the release of "Third Degree" in 1997, followed by his debut album The Weatherman LP in March 2007. This album reached Number 18 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers and Number 42 on the Top Independent Albums charts. Evidence also produced several instrumental albums, including The Yellow Tape Instrumentals (2004) and Red Tape Instrumentals (2007). He continued to release notable works such as Cats & Dogs (2011), Weather or Not (2018) and the diptych Unlearning, Vol. 1 (2021) and Unlearning, Vol. 2 (2025).
