Biography

Alf Poier, born on February 22, 1967 in Judenburg, Styria, Austria, is a singer and stand-up comedian. He began his career doing cabaret in Graz in 1995 and released his debut album Himmel, Arsch & Gartenzwerg in 1996. Poier gained international recognition by participating in the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 with "Weil der Mensch zählt", finishing in sixth place. His stage act was a parody of the contest's excesses. In 2005, his song "Good Old Europe Is Dying" caused controversy due to its lyrics. Poier has won several awards, including the Salzburger Stier in 1998 and the Austrian Österreichischer Kabarettpreis in 2002.
